John Ward Mogge

John Ward Mogge Jack, 87 years old, a longtime resident of Dothan, passed away on Wednesday, September 4, 2013.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, September 7, 2013 at St. Columba Catholic Church with Father Patrick Gallagher officiating. Burial will immediately follow in Sunset Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6-8 pm on Friday, September 6, 2013 with a prayer service beginning at 6 pm at the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to Catholic Social Services, 557 W. Main St., Dothan, AL, 36303, or to Boys Town of America, P.O. Box 8000, Boys Town, NE, 68010, or to any chapter of the American Indian Missions.

Jack was born in Cleveland, OH on November 8, 1925.  He graduated from Ft. Thomas High School and enlisted in the U.S. Navy in 1943, and served as an aviation ordnanceman in the South Pacific from 1944 – 1945. Jack was married to Harriett on July 3, 1948. They were married for 58 years. Jack was a devout Catholic and was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church in Dothan, AL and was a member of The Knights of Columbus. Jack worked for General Electric for 35 years. His career included the Minuteman Missile and Apollo programs, and GE Nuclear. He enjoyed traveling with his Airstream, sail boating and tinkering around the house. Jack was preceded in death by his wife Harriett.

Survivors include his 4 children Linda Hall Greg, of Malone, FL, John W. Mogge, Jr. Cathy, of Tampa, FL, Marcie Kay Chris, of Ft. Collins, CO, and Mark Mogge Natasha, of Tega Cay, SC; his brother Don Mogge Jane, of Paris, KY, and sister Elaine Harry, of Cincinnati, OH; his 7 grandchildren Jay Mogge April, David Mogge Adrienne, Steven Hall Tiffany, Stacey Livingston Joseph, Chloe Kay, Colin Kay, and Andrew Mogge; 2 great grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be John W. Mogge, III, Steven L. Hall, David J. Mogge, and Joseph R. Livingston. Honorary pallbearers will be Andrew I. Mogge and Colin A. Kay.
