John Parker

John Parker of Midland City passed away at Flowers Hospital on Sunday, August 1, 2010. He was 88.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Thursday, August 5, 2010 in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Brother Jim Tate and Rodger Hall officiating. Burial will follow in Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 am until 11 am Thursday.Mr. Parker was born January 5, 1922 in Dothan and resided the early years of his life in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was employed in the Railroad Industry for over forty years and at the time of his retirement was employed with ConRail Railroad. Mr. Parker moved to Midland City in 1980 and resided there for the past thirty years. He enjoyed listening to Big Band Music and repairing electronic equipment. Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his wife of fifty-two years Irene Parker who passed away in 1995. Survivors include his son Rick Parker and his wife Diana of Midland City; a daughter Judy Ann Swinford of Muncie, IN; four grandchildren, Jerrie Bellish, Julie Coffey, Susan Grider, and Liz Frazier; twelve great-grandchildren; his sisters, Helen Rolen of Dothan, Judy Park of Yemassie, SC, and Sara Strickland of Dothan. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
