John Wayne Pate

November 11, 1945 — March 28, 2018

John Wayne Pate, of Ashford, passed away Wednesday, March 28, 2018 at a local hospital. He was 72. Funeral services will be held 2 pm Saturday March 31, 2018 at Antioch Baptist Church in Ashford with Rev. Greg Aman officiating. The family will receive friends 5-7 pm Friday at Sunset Funeral Home and 1-2 pm prior to the service at the church. Burial will follow in Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. Mr. Pate was born November 11, 1945 in Houston County, Alabama and spent his entire life in Ashford. He was a 1965 graduate of Ashford High School and was employed with Wex-Tex for several years prior to his retirement. He enjoyed riding around in his pick-up truck to keep up with what was going on around town. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Ashford as well as Antioch Baptist Church. John was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Inez Pate; his sister, Linda Sue Johnson; and his brothers, Charles Ray Pate, Jerome Pate, and Terry Pate.Survivors include his sisters, Eleanor Faye (Jerry) Knight and Denise (Greg) Tate; his brother, Glenn Allen (Barbara) Pate; nieces and nephews, DeWayne Knight, Susan Thompson, Kristy Boney, Stephanie Sanders, Jennifer Rector, Amanda Pate, Connor Pate, and Dustin Tate; several great-nieces and great-nephews; a special aunt, Martha Smith.Burial Date March 31, 2018 Funeral services will be held 2 pm Saturday March 31, 2018 at Antioch Baptist Church in Ashford with Rev.
