Johnnie Mae Coleman

Johnnie Mae Coleman, a resident of Dothan passed away on August 15, 2010 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 89.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, August 18, 2010 at Dothan Community Church with Rev. Charles Lewis and Rev. Chester McFarland officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery with Robert Byrd Directing. Mrs. Coleman was born in Gordon, Alabama on April 25, 1921 and lived there her early years of life. She moved to Newark, New Jersey and lived there for over 35 years. Mrs. Coleman was employed with AT&T for 32 years until her retirement in 1980. She returned to Dothan in 1981 and where she resided the remainder of her life. Mrs. Coleman was a member of Dothan Community Church and attended Bethany Bible College where she received a degree in Theology. She was a avid gardener and enjoyed bowling. Survivors include her husband Leroy Coleman, Sr. of Dothan; a son, Leroy Coleman Jr. wife Denise of East Orange, NJ; two grandchildren, Jennifer B. Coleman and Joshua L. Coleman; two brothers, Gaines Grimsley and Herbert Grimsley of Dothan; and a host of nieces and nephews also survive. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
