Johnnie Mae Grubbs

April 2, 1924 — March 15, 2015

Johnnie Mae Grubbs was called home to be with the Lord on Sunday March 15, 2015. She fought a good courageous fight, while remaining strong in her faith with the Lord. She was 91 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Saturday, March 28, 2015 at Bethel AME Church with Rev. W. F. Morris officiating.  Burial will follow in Mt. Moriah Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing.

Johnnie Mae Grubbs was born April 2, 1924 in Pinckard, AL to the parents of John Hudson and Josephine Wells of Dale County.

She received her education at Pinckard High School and later moved to New Jersey. She later retired from Glass Factory, and returned to Pinckard with her mother and aunt. She joined Bethel A.M.E. Church where she was a faithful member until her health declined and was unable to take care of herself and lived in Bonifay Nursing Home and Rehab until her death.

She was preceded in death by her parents; and by her grandparents; her son, Collie.

She leaves to cherish her memory two devoted grandchildren, Claudette and Corey Lowe; her five great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law; her 2 step-sisters, Bobbie Miller, of Alabama and Mary Ford, of Texas; her step-brother, Andrew Anderson, of California; other relatives and friends, a special cousin, Lulu Mae Jackson and her friend, Anna L. Heard.  Mrs. Grubbs loved fishing and leaves a host of cousins and friends.

Burial Date: January 1, 1970
