Jonnie Bass Davis

December 18, 1918 — October 24, 2016

Jonnie Bass Davis, 97, a resident of Dothan passed away Monday, October 24, 2016 at her residence.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 26, 2016 at Mt. Gilead Baptist Church with Dr. James Sanders officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the church.

Mrs. Davis was born on December 18, 1918 in Houston County to the late Noah and Mary Bass. She was a loving mother, grandmother, and a lifetime member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She founded the Antique Attic in 1969 and was one of the founding members of the Southeast Alabama Antique Association. She enjoyed traveling – riding a camel at the pyramids in Cairo, walking the Great Wall in China, and white water rafting in Alaska.

Mrs. Davis was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Davis, two sons, Paul and Charles Davis, and seven siblings.

Survivors include her daughter, Mary Alice Veale and her husband George; her grandchildren, Warren Veale, Lindsay Edge, Scott Davis, Danni Harris, Chuck Davis, Aimee Davis, Steve Davis, and Kim MacAluso; her daughter-in-law, Geri Davis; several great-grandchildren.

Serving as pallbearers will be Warren Veale, Scott Davis, Chuck Davis, Steve Davis, and James Trawick.

Burial Date: January 1, 1970
