Joseph Norman Clevinger

May 18, 1943 — April 17, 2014

Joseph Norman Clevinger, 70, of Newton, AL. met the Lord Our Father and Savior with a peaceful soul Thursday April 17th, at his residence.

Joseph was born on 18 May 1943 in Dallas, Texas. After meeting and marrying the one true love of his life, Marie Roberts Enfinger they moved to the Wiregrass area and had three children. His working life including positions with the City of Dothan Police Department and the City of Ozark Police Department. After returning to Texas he worked as a paramedic for the City of Arlington and City of Bridgeport before retiring on 12 February 2010 as a Quality Control Inspector for U.S. Pipe Fabrication Fast Fabricators. He was an avid fisherman and had a love for the great outdoors, playing computer games, and collecting Native American imagery and figurines. He has been preceded in meeting our Lord by his father Joe Clevinger and mother, Mary Gary Clevinger.

Surviving family include his former wife Marie Enfinger and mother to, daughter Marcia Duke Keith of Newton, a son, Joseph Clevinger III LaKay of Troy, daughter Deanna Clevinger of Newton and his “sister-in-laws for life” Mildred OwensNeil of Headland and Della WatsonFrank of Newton; three 3 brothers Mark Donna, Anthony Judy, and Brian Donna Clevinger, One 1 sister Diana Bryant Larry and another Daughter Lisa Sims Chuck all of Ft Worth, TX along with several nieces and nephews; he was affectionately and with love called “Paw Paw Joe” by nineteen 19 grandchildren and sixteen 16 great- grandchildren.

A visitation service will be held 600p.m. – 800p.m. Monday, 21 April 2014 at Sunset Memorial Park and Funeral Home.

“Let not your hearts be troubled. Believe in God; believe also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms. If it were not so, would I have told you that I go to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and will take you to myself, that where I am you may be also. And you know the way to where I am going.” John 14:1-4
