Josie G. Smith of Dothan passed away on Monday, May 27, 2019. She was 87. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm on Monday, June 3, 2019 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Eugene Smith officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home one hour prior to the service. Ms. Smith was born on June 5, 1931 in Pike County, Alabama to Henry and Claria Seymore. She resided in Troy before moving to Abbeville and then later moving to New Jersey with her family. She was employed with a home health agency and later the post office before becoming a stay at home, wife, mother, and grandmother. She was a loving mother to all and had many foster children through the years. She loved her family and went above and beyond for them. When she wasn't taking care of her family, she would take time to be in her garden growing fresh produce for them. Ms. Smith will be terribly missed by her family and will be remembered for the love she showed everyone. She was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond Smith; her son, Johnnie F. Culver; her great-grandchild, Ashni Johnson; and her four sisters, Frances Seymore, Ive Scott, Mattie Joe Culver, and Lottie Jackson. She is survived by her son, Jessie J. Culver; her four daughters, Veleda Campbell (Sammie), Mary Cooper, Lottie Grace (Willie), Denise Champ (David); five grandsons, Valdis Culver (Beverly), Adrian Sewell, Aaron Cooper (Yolanda), Johnathan Culver, Andrew Maxwell; five granddaughters, Josie Lee (Antwon), Leslie Lynn, Aleeya Allman, Dana Champ, Nicole Champ; eleven great grandsons, Anthony Cooper, Aamohn Cooper, André Cooper (Isabella), Aabraue Cooper, Antwon Lee, Marcel Culver, Josh Culver, Cincere Culver, Matthew Hughes, Joshua Angaroo and Aiden Angaroo; four great granddaughters, Aaleciyah Cooper, Sydney Lee, Makayla Perry and Sinai Angaroo; one great-great granddaughter, Sieanna Cooper; and a host of nieces, nephews, and extended family.
