Joyce Ann (Taylor) Bradberry

January 10, 1943 — December 23, 2023

Dothan

Joyce Bradberry, a cherished soul known for her loving nature and adventurous spirit, passed away peacefully at her residence in Dothan, Alabama, on December 23, 2023, at the age of 80. Born in Dothan on January 10, 1943, Joyce's life was a testament to the beauty of selflessness and the joy of living each day to the fullest.

Joyce spent her formative years in the community she would always call home. She attended Young Jr. and Dothan High School, where she formed friendships that would last a lifetime. After her education, Joyce joined the workforce at Sony Corporation in Dothan, where she dedicated many years as an assembly worker. Her colleagues remember her as a diligent and friendly presence, always ready to lend a hand or share a smile.

Family was the cornerstone of Joyce's life. She was a devoted wife to her late husband, Milton Bradberry, and a loving mother to her children, William (Nicola) Tankersley and Debbie Tankersley. Though she faced the heartbreaking loss of her twin daughters, Cindy and Carla Huntsburger, Joyce's capacity for love never waned. Her grandchildren, Ben (Stephanie) Tankersley, Dan (Anna) Tankersley, and Kade Tankersley, her great grandchildren, Abigail, Tristan, Ezra, and Abner Tankersley, Elijah, Kate, and Audrey Tankersley were the recipients of her boundless affection and support.

Joyce was the beloved sister of Sarah Taylor and was cherished by her nieces and nephews, Bruce Fulford, Beverly Burbank, Rebecca (Jim) Welch, David (JoAnn) Kirkland, and Vickie Cheshire. She joins in eternal rest her parents, Clement "CC" Carlo Taylor and Edith Merle Taylor, and her brother, Robert (Helen) Taylor.

An active member of her community, Joyce's faith was an essential part of her life. She attended Friendship Church in Taylor, where she embraced her community with open arms and an open heart. Her interests extended beyond the church doors; Joyce loved jewelry and took great pleasure in dressing up for shopping excursions. She enjoyed traveling, exploring new places and experiencing the wonders of the world.

Joyce lived on Lake Seminole for a number of years, where she found tranquility and inspiration in the serene waterscape. Her home was a reflection of her personality—warm, inviting, and beautifully decorated, always ready to welcome friends and family.

Those who knew Joyce would describe her as the epitome of loving and selfless. She was the kind of person who put others before herself, and her adventurous spirit never faded. Her zest for life and her ability to find joy in the simple pleasures were truly inspirational. As Helen Keller once said, "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing at all." Joyce embodied this sentiment, making every day an adventure worth cherishing.

Joyce's legacy is one of love, kindness, and the courage to embrace life's journey with grace. She will be deeply missed by all who were fortunate enough to know her. Her memory will live on as a beacon of the love and joy she spread so effortlessly throughout her life.

A celebration of Joyce's life will be held at 11 am on Thursday, December 28, 2023 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Dan Tankersley officiating. Joyce will be laid to rest at Memory Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 10-11 am.
