Julia Ardenee' Gaillard Rose

Julia Ardenee' Gaillard Rose, a resident of Montgomery and former resident of Dothan, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2017. She was 108.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Wednesday, October 4, 2017 at Episcopal Church of the Nativity. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Episcopal Church of the Nativity, 205 Holly Lane, Dothan, AL 36301 or to Tuskegee University, 1200 W. Montgomery Rd., Tuskegee, AL 36088.

Mrs. Rose was born on February 11, 1909 in Charleston, SC. She received a BS degree from Tuskegee Institute in Physical Education in 1938. Her career included teaching and a business owner of two educational facilities at Martin Homes Kindergarten and Little Gem Playhouse before retiring in 1974. Mrs. Rose enjoyed membership with Daughters of the King, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., the Order of the Eastern Stars, Amy Washington Chapter, and Eureka Sorrelle Social Club.

Mrs. Rose was preceded in death by her husband of 67 years, Sherman T. Rose, by her parents, William A. and Ethel Noisette Gaillard, Sr., and by her brothers, William A. Gaillard, Jr., Bertram (Corutha) Gaillard, Wendell E. (Lois) Gaillard, and Quentin E. (Norma) Gaillard.

Survivors include her 3 children, Ronald S. (Catherine) Rose, David W. (Myra) Rose, and Sheron Rose; her grandchildren, Cheria Boxhill, Natasha Sanders, and Winton Baylor; one great-granddaughter, Hayden Boxhill; and a host of nieces and nephews; one sister-in-law, Lucy Rose Alexander, Oklahoma City,. OK.
