Mrs. Julia Carol Palmer Williams of Dothan, Alabama passed away Tuesday, June 29, 2010 at her residence with her family by her side. She was 76.
The family will receive friends at a memorial gathering held on Friday, July 2, 2010 from 6-8 pm at the Sunset Funeral Home Reception Center. There will be a private memorial service for immediate family only held at a later date.Carol was born on May 9, 1934 in Midland City, Alabama. She graduated as valedictorian from Midland City High School. During her high school years, Carol was a cheerleader, editor of the school newspaper and annual and Miss FHA 1951 and 1952. She earned her B.A. in Education at the University of Wyoming in 1970 and a Masters Degree in Special Education from Troy State University in 1985. Carol enriched the lives of countless students and colleagues across the country with her humor and dedication to teaching. She retired from Honeysuckle Middle School in Dothan. Survivors include her husband Bill Williams of Dothan; daughters, Katrina Lynn Hoff of Boise, ID and Julie Hoff Bainbridge and her husband Brent of Ontario, OR; three grandchildren, Jasper Hoff, Kendra Holderman and Jordan Bainbridge; a great-granddaughter Addison Holderman; a brother Mac Palmer and his wife Joy of Dothan. Additional survivors include nieces, Vicki Carol Owens of Dallas, TX and Susan Bryant of Brandon, MS, as well as four step children, six step grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Carol will be missed greatly by all who knew her, but her legacy and love of life will live on in their hearts forever.In honor of Carol’s lifelong passion for education, donations may be made to Dothan City Schools, Department of Exceptional Child Services, 500 Dusy Street, Dothan, AL 36301.
