June Alice Baker

June 23, 1945 — September 28, 2014

June Alice Whitehead Baker, age 69 of Ashford, Alabama, passed away at 4:48am on September 28, 2014 at her home following an extended illness.

June was born June 23, 1945 in Marianna, Florida, but lived most of her life in Alabama. June worked for the Houston County Sheriff's Department for many years, and then began working and retired from the Houston County Tax Revenue office as a specialty clerk. June was a longtime member of Cloverdale United Methodist Church, where she served as the morning organist for over ten years.

June was preceded in death by her father Ivy Clayton Whitehead; paternal grandparents, William Clayton Whitehead and Winnie Davis Whitehead; maternal grandparents, William C. O'Neill and Callan Hill O'Neill.

Survivors include her loving and caring husband Johnnie E. Baker of Ashford, AL; sister-in-law and caregiver Tanya Jean McLean and her husband Eugene McLean; three sons, Robbie McArthur of Shreveport, LA, Scott LaMargaret McArthur of Enterprise, AL, and Steven Clayton fiancé Anna Johnson McArthur of Montgomery, AL; June's mother Florence O'Neill Whitehead of Marianna, FL; her brother Ivy Clayton Carolyn Whitehead, Jr. of Marianna, FL; five grandchildren, Mason McArthur, Taylor McArthur, Jackson McArthur, Steven Clayton McArthur, II, and Matthew McArthur, all of whom she loved and cherished every moment she could spend with them; two nephews, Jeffrey Clayton Whitehead of Orlando, FL and Jason Braxton Emily Whitehead of Jacksonville, FL; last but not least, June's constant companions, her beloved pets.

Funeral services will be 2:00pm Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Roland Rabon of Marianna, FL officiating. Interment services will follow at 4:30pm in Riverside Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1:00pm until 2:00pm prior to the service at the funeral home.
