Kay Kiyoko Strickland, a resident of Meridianville, AL and formerly of Daleville and Ozark passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2009 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. She was 80.
Memorial services will be held at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 at Bethel Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Roberts officiating and Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends following the services at the church.Mrs. Strickland was born on July 29, 1929 in Kyoto Japan and lived the early years of her life there. She moved to the United States in 1952. Mrs. Strickland resided in Daleville for sixteen years and moved to Ozark in 1985 and was employed with Wal-Mart for twenty years. After retiring, she moved to Meridianville, AL where she resided for the past four years. She was a member of Bethel Baptist Church in Newton, Alabama.Survivors include her seven children, Larry Strickland of Rivers Falls, AL, Richard Strickland of Las Vegas, NV, Neal Strickland of Santa Rosa Beach, FL, David Strickland of Montgomery, NY, Pearl Hanville of Troy, AL, Patricia Pace of Meridianville, AL, Pamela Brown of Meridianville, AL; 12 grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; sisters, Masako Naganuma of Japan, Shizuko Naganuma of Japan.
