Kevin Craig Gulledge, a beloved husband, father, grandfather, son, and brother. Kevin was a cherished soul whose life journey began on September 21, 1963, in Blue Springs, Alabama. Kevin's life was a beacon of love, adventure, and selflessness that illuminated the paths of many. He was a man whose presence was a gift to the world, and his departure leaves a legacy that will forever resonate in the hearts of those he touched. He passed away after a brief illness with esophageal cancer, surrounded by his loving family on November 13, 2024.
Kevin's formative years in Blue Springs laid the foundation for a life characterized by earnest dedication and a robust work ethic. His educational journey at Dixie Academy was just the beginning, as he further honed his skills and knowledge at Wallace Community College. There, not only did he earn an Associate's Degree, but also met Mitzi, the love of his life. Their union was a testament to devotion, spanning four decades of shared dreams and triumphs. Together, they raised their beloved daughter, Lynsey, who, along with her husband John, gave Kevin the precious gift of being a grandfather to Ava Catherine, John Connor, and Lillian—the lights of his life.
Kevin's professional life was marked by his entrepreneurial spirit and his versatility. His hands were skilled, his mind was sharp, and his heart was always open to new ventures and opportunities. He was also a man of deep faith, living out the principles of Christianity with every step he took and every decision he made. Kevin's life was a true testament to his faith and his unwavering commitment to living by its principles.
Kevin's love for people and his generous spirit were evident in every facet of his life. He was always ready to lend a hand, sharing his time, talents, and resources freely. Kevin held a deep belief in the strength of a handshake and the reliability of a man's word. His honor was as solid as the earth beneath his feet. His approachable nature and easy smile could light up any room, and his infectious laugh brought joy to all who knew him.
A celebration of Kevin's life will be a reflection of the joy and love he shared so freely. The service, set to be held at 11 am on Saturday, November 16, 2024, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Buddy Ward officiating, will be an homage to a man who lived fully, loved deeply, and left an indelible mark on the world. Kevin will be laid to rest at Blue Springs Word of Truth Church Cemetery, surrounded by the nature he adored so much. The family will gather to receive friends at the funeral home on Friday evening from 5-7 pm. Flowers are being accepted or memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, to fund vital research, promote early detection, and help develop lifesaving treatments for esophageal cancer. Serving as pallbearers will be Shane Teal, Sean Teal, Don Barefield, Christopher Smith, Stephen Barefield and Jonathan Smith.
