Kimberley Jo Marshall Mathews, 40, of Midland City, went to be home with her Heavenly Father Wednesday, December 4, 2013 at her residence with her family by her side, following a courageous battle with cancer.
Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday, December 7, 2013 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Midland City Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Friday from 6 pm until 8 pm.
Kimberley was born April 1, 1973 in Dothan, AL. She was a 1990 graduate of Haley Turner Private School. She attended the George C. Wallace College of Nursing, where she graduated as a Registered Nurse with an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in 2000. In 2009 she received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Jacksonville State University. Kim began her career with CareSouth Homecare Professionals in 2001. In 2008 she was promoted to Regional Director of Operations Alabama Division, the position she held until the time of her illness. Kim held fast to her faith in Jesus Christ. She was an elder and chief financial officer in Victory Family Church, as well as a generous supporter of missions. She was also known for showing tremendous mercy to anyone in need. While Kim experienced much success in life, her greatest joy was in her son Joseph.
Left to cherish her memory are her husband of 20 years Robert D. Mathews, a son R. Joseph Mathews; Grandmother: Meta Dillard of Dothan; Father: Joe Trish Marshall of Gordon; Mother: Betty Trammel of Dothan; Her Siblings: Rhonda David Watkins of Dothan, Abby Eric Exum of Dothan, Michelle Michael Marshall of St. Louis, MO, Terry Tina Winn of Vicksburg, MS, Scott Winn of Dothan, Aaron Ceylona Chapman of Niceville, FL, Bryan Valerie Chapman of Melbourne, FL; Her Mother-In-Law Willo Faye Mathews; Her In-laws: Brenda Jim Carpenter of Tifton, Ga, Janet Tim Blackmon of Ino, AL, Teresa Frank Ward of Montgomery, AL, Dennis Mathews of Midland City; and several Nieces and Nephews.
Pallbearers will be: Derek Winn, Jamey Watkins, Kristopher Winn, Dennis Mathews, Tony Wood and Aaron Finn.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Trish Marshall as well as Renee Schaule and the staff of Covenant Hospice for their excellent and loving care of Kim during this time of need.
