L. A. “Dougin” Thompson, a resident of Headland, passed away on Monday, June 14, 2010 at Flowers Hospital. He was 56.
Funeral services will be held at 10 am on Friday, June 18, 2010 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Tom Chestnut and Rev. Sam White officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd of Sunset Funeral Home directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Thursday, June 17, 2010 from 6-8 pm.rnMr. Thompson was born January 1, 1954 in Houston County and lived most of his life in Headland, AL. He owned a heavy equipment company, excavating land and building ponds. He was a music lover and started Just Friends Club to play music with his friends. Mr. Thompson played the guitar and drums with the South Henry Band.rnSurvivors include his daughter, Kellie Thompson and his son, Kross Thompson, both of Headland; two brothers, Jamie Thompson, Newton, AL, Gregg Thompson, Kinsey, AL; four sisters, Barbara Porter and Susan Thompson both of Tallahassee, FL, Garlynda Thomason, Huntsville, AL, and Margie McGraw, Covington, GA; aunts and uncles, George and Nell Thompson, Franklin Thompson, Bill Windham, Wayne Windham, Betty Jo West, Carolyn Bowden, and Jennie Lindeman; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
