Lana Leigh Peacock, a Dothan resident, died on February 6, 2024, in a Dothan hospital. She was 81 years old.
Lana was born on December 30, 1942, in Anniston, Alabama. She was named after actress Lana Turner. She is preceded in death by her father Otis Ward, her mother Kathryn Baxley, her brother Marion Hall, and her grandmother Emma Ree Howerton. Lana grew up in Abbeville and Dothan.
She graduated from Dothan High School and attended Troy State University at Dothan. She was a devoted wife and mother, made delicious deviled eggs at Easter, and was always well dressed and stylish. Lana had a special place in her heart for pets, including Shih Tzu family members J.J., Precious, Su Ling, and Miss Muffins.
She is survived by her loving husband of 63 years Johnny Peacock, sons John Ashley Peacock (Tallahassee, FL), and Shea Peacock (Boston, MA). For the past month, she was by her husband's side 24 hours a day during his battle with cancer at local area hospitals.
