Larry Holland

Larry Joe Holland, 66, of Dothan passed away Monday, June 18, 2012 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be 11 am Saturday, June 23, 2012 at Landmark Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Merritt officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 pm Friday at the funeral home, at all other times the family will be at 3300 Alderbrook Road, Dothan.   Mr. Holland will be placed in the church one hour prior to service time Saturday.  Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Landmark Baptist Church, Dothan, Alabama.

Mr. Holland was born November 15, 1945 in Dothan and resided the early years of his life in Holmes County, Florida and was a 1963 graduate of Ponce de Leon High School. Mr. Holland was a veteran of the Vietnam War and served with U.S. Air Force. He was employed as a helicopter mechanic at Fort Rucker and later with Jeffcoat Equipment Company as a heavy equipment mechanic for 13 years. Mr. Holland was employed with Alabama Power at Farley Nuclear Plant for 23 years prior to his retirement in 2008. Mr. Holland was a member of Landmark Baptist Church.

Mr. Holland was preceded in death by his parents, Dilbert and Sabie Herring Holland.

Survivors include his wife, Pat Holland, Dothan; his 3 sons, Tim Laura Holland of Geneva, Matt Cindy Holland of Senoia, GA, and Jason Creel of Dothan; his 4 daughters, LaDonna Michael of Dothan, Dana Payne of Dothan, Brenda Kyle Goltz of West Yellow Stone, Montana, and Brandy Holland also of West Yellow Stone, Montana; his grandson, Joey Holland and his granddaughter, Leah Grace Holland; several aunts and cousins also survive.
