Larry Allen Whitney

Staff Sergeant Larry Allen Whitney (RET. U.S. Army), a resident of Ozark, passed away on Friday, July 9, 2021, at a local hospital. He was 57 years old.

Military honors will held at 3 pm on Friday, July 16, 2021 in Sunset Memorial Park Pavilion. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Massachusetts.

Staff Sergeant Whitney was born on September 13, 1963, in Greenfield, Massachusetts. He served in the US Army for 20 years as a Chinook Flight Engineer. During his time in the military, he did several tours including, Panama Canal Zone, Desert Storm, Desert Shield, Iraq, and Afghanistan. In his free time, he enjoyed collecting baseball cards, fishing, bowling, and spending time with his family.

Staff Sergeant Whitney was preceded in death by his father, Jerry Whitney, Sr., his brother, Jerry Whitney, Jr. and his father-in-law Clifford Ritter.

Survivors include his loving wife of 40 years, Karen Whitney; his children, Jessica (Mike) Galusha, Jason (Russell) Jones, and Eric (Amber) Whitney; his grandchildren, Cole, Hunter, Brayden, Ian, Owen, Tyler, and Leora; his mother, Hester Pearce Sheldon; his siblings, Mark (Toni) Gardner, Penny King, Anne Gardner, LeAnn Gardner, and Sam (Sarah) Whitney; his mother-in-law, Geraldine Ritter; his brother-in-law, Michael Ritter; his sister-in-law, Carol Ritter; a host of nieces and nephews; and his special K-9 companions, Princess and Tesse Mae.
