Lewis Franklin Amos, Sr.

Lewis Franklin "Frank" Amos, Sr., a resident of Dothan passed away on Thursday, April 30, 2009 at his residence after an extended illness. He was 72.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 3, 2009 at Trinity Lutheran Church. Burial with Full Military Honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. on Saturday, May 2 at the funeral home.rnMr. Amos was born on July 31, 1936. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps for 2 years and the U.S. Army for 20 years receiving 3 Bronze Stars and numerous other medals for his service in Vietnam. He was one of seven brothers that served in the military during war time, with a combined service record that spanned over 100 years.rnMr. Amos was preceded in death by his parents William Robert Amos and Melvina Blanche Campbell Amos, brothers Curtis Amos, Kenneth Amos and Clifton Junior Amos, a sister Priscilla Wade, sons Jeffrey Honaker Amos and Anthony Honaker Amos. rnSurvivors include his wife of 46 years Waltraud Wally E.M. Amos of Dothan; children, Melvina R. Amos West and her husband Lynn of Rancho Cucamonga, CA, Susanna White Amos Nolte and her husband John of Redondo Beach, CA, Patricia Amos Postler of Norfolk, VA, Tina M. Amos Soltys and her husband Scott of Dothan, Lewis Frankie Amos Jr. and his wife Michele of N. Kingstown, RI; 16 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; brothers, Calvin Sphar Amos and his wife Diane of Ohio, Roland Jackson Amos and his wife Debbie of Ohio, Thomas Delano Amos and his wife Patsy of Tennessee, Charles Robert Amos and his wife Pinky of Delaware; sisters, Iris Devonne Winesett of Ohio, Anita Marcella Runions and her partner Kevin of Florida; several nieces and nephews; his best friend and mentor James Estes Col. Ret. and his wife Suzie; his loving K-9’s Wizzy and Missy.rnThe family would like to thank Covenant Hospice and their church family and friends from Trinity Lutheran Church for all of the love and support they have expressed. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
