Lillie M. Stewart, a former resident of Dothan, Alabama made her heavenly transition on Friday, August 14, 2020. She was 86 years old. The family will receive friends in the Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, August 21, 2020 from 1 - 2 pm. Immediately following visitation a "Celebration of Life for Lil Stewart" will commence. Lil, as she was affectionately known, was born on August 28, 1933 to the late Sammy Robinson and Rosie Bell Lockhart. She graduated from Carver High School in Dothan, Alabama as an Honor Student in 1951. On February 1, 1952, she was joined in blissful matrimony to Tommie Lee Stewart. They relocated to Detroit, Michigan where they began their family and her career at the United States Post Office. Tommie and Lil raised four wonderful children: Gregory, Ann, Jacquelyn, and Ruby. After she retired from the United States Post Office, they moved to Dothan, Alabama in 1977. While in Dothan, she enjoyed cooking and taking care of her family and friends. She was a devoted member of First Missionary Baptist Church in Dothan, Alabama, where she served as a Deaconess and member of the choir. When Lil moved to Tuscaloosa, Alabama she continued her spiritual service attending Greater Faith Victory and Worship Center as a beloved member of the Mothers' Ministry. Lil was preceded in death by her husband, Tommie; son, Gregory; daughters: Ann, Jacquelyn, and Ruby; and grandson, Chiron. She leaves to cherish her memories, by her grandchildren: Dawn (Charles) Burton of Helena, Alabama; Kenyetta Stewart of Detroit, Michigan; Carl (Yolanda) Reynolds of Tuscaloosa, Alabama; James (Tiffany) Bell II of Houston, Texas; and Brittani Stewart of Detroit, Michigan; 11 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren and a host of relatives and friends. Burial Date August 21, 2020 The family will receive friends in the Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, August 21, 2020 from 1 - 2 pm. Immediately following visitation a "Celebration of Lillie M. Stewart Life" will commence.
