MSG Lonie Ritter (US Army Ret.), a resident of Dothan passed away on Thursday, December 13, 2018 at a local hospital. He was 70 years old. The family will receive friends from 2-4:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 22, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home followed by military honors in Sunset Memorial Park. Mr. Ritter was born July 24, 1948 in Charleston, SC and lived there the early part of his life. Following high school graduation, he joined the US Army at the age of 17 and served for 23 years including a tour in Vietnam. At the time of his retirement in 1989 he was a logistics specialist and was living in Monterey, CA. Following his military retirement, he moved to Dothan where he enjoyed wood working. He built beautiful furniture and picture frames among other things. He also loved the restoration work he performed on his pride and joy, a 1967 Plymouth Belvedere. Survivors include his wife, Linda DeLong Ritter; children, JoAnn Ritter, Sonja Ritter, Lonnie Ritter, Jr., LaChun Ritter (Tyrone), Palmere Ritter, Larrance Ritter (Yukie), Terrance Ritter, Brittany Ritter, and Alandis Ritter; brothers, Philip Drayton, Jr. (Hope), Julious Drayton, Harold Drayton, and Theodore Drayton; sisters, Mary Ann Drayton and Pamela West (Joe); a host of grandchildren, cousins, and special friends. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Ellen Drayton, father, Philip Drayton, and brother, Michael Drayton.
