Lonnie Blankenship

Lonnie Blankenship, 65, a resident of Skipperville, died Monday May 4, 2015 at a local hospital.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Thursday May 7, 2015 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Jeff Watson officiating.  Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing.  The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10am-11am Thursday.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Go Fund Me.

Mr. Blankenship was born October 10, 1949 in Clopton, AL and lived the early part of his life in Skipperville. He was a 1970 graduate of George W. Long High School and was employed with West Point Home for 38 years until his retirement in 2008. He was an avid Alabama Football Fan and loved watching Gun Smoke and other western shows. He was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church. Mr. Blankenship was preceded in death by his parents, Acey and Inez Blankenship; his twin brother Ronnie Blankenship; brothers, Bud and Raymond Blankenship; sisters, Mary Alice Wood and Ruth Sauls.

Survivors include his wife, Marie Blankenship; his sons, Jason Blankenship, Ashley Blankenship and Johnny Blankenship; his daughter, Melanie and her husband Tony Hartzog; step-grandchildren, Justin and Jordan Hartzog; brothers, Ray Blankenship, Charles Blankenship, William Blankenship, and Homer Blankenship; sisters, Lillian Watson and Sally Sands; several nieces and nephews.
