Mada P. Anderson

July 22, 1938 — October 3, 2017

Mada P. Anderson, a resident of Ashford, AL passed away on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at her residence. She was 79 years old.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 8, 2017 at First Freewill Baptist Church with Rev. Steve Trail and Rev. Ricky Carroll officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday, October 7, 2017 from 5-7 p.m. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to First Free Will Baptist Church, 1461 Timbers Drive, Dothan, AL 36301.

Mrs. Anderson was born on July 22, 1938 in Brantley County, Georgia and was a 1955 graduate of Glynn Academy in Brunswick, GA. In 1956, she married Max Anderson and they were stationed at Ft. Bragg, North Carolina and Waycross, Georgia before moving to Dothan in 1965. She was employed with Dothan Hosiery Mill and later at General Hospital as the secretary to the purchasing agent. Later, she was director of volunteers before retiring in 2003 from Southeast Alabama Medical Center with over 30 years of service. Mrs. Anderson was a member of First Freewill Baptist Church since 1965 where she was a choir member, a Sunday School teacher, the Golden Agers and Ladies' Auxiliary.

Mrs. Anderson was preceded in death by her parents, Kermit and Eldis Parks; and sister-in-law, Juda Parks.

Survivors include her husband of 61 years, Max Anderson; children, Dawn (Dennis) Cobb, Angie McCardle and Joe (Teresa) Anderson; grandchildren, Aaron (Joanna) Pollack, Karl Ely (Jessica) Pollack, Bethany (Ben Cutler) Cobb, Luke McCardle, Jake McCardle, Jessica (Joel) Presley and Amanda (Whylie) Williams; great-grandchildren, Logan McCardle and Mahkael McCardle; sister, Shirleen (Glenn) Thomas; brother, Woodie (Donna) Parks; and several nieces and nephews.
