Marjorie Ann Vaughn Thomley

Marjorie Ann Vaughn Thomley, a resident of Gardendale, Alabama, formerly of Dothan, died late Wednesday night August 5, 2020. She was 83. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday September 7, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Bill Robinson officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 until 11:00 A.M. Monday in the chapel at Sunset Funeral Home. The family wishes for everyone to remain safe and all masking and social distancing guidelines be observed. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to: The Thomley Foundation Post Office Box 1562 Brentwood, Tennessee, 37024 Mrs. Thomley was born and reared in Dothan, Alabama, daughter of the late Jake Sterns Vaughn and Lillie Mae Vaughn. She was a graduate of Dothan High School and attended Georgetown College in Lexington, Kentucky. Mrs. Thomley lived in Dothan for over sixty years before moving to live in both Cookeville, Tennessee and Gardendale, Alabama. She was a lifetime member of the Church of Christ, working with congregations in Dothan, Birmingham, Alabama, and Cookeville, Tennessee. She devoted her life to the raising of her children and grandchildren. Mrs. Thomley was preceded in death by her loving husband of 54 years, Taft Thomley. Marjorie Thomley is survived by her three sons and three daughters: Donna Thomley Thomas and husband Clay, Sondra Thomley Crump, Lisa Thomley Martin and husband Philip, David Thomley and wife Jeannie, Tommy Thomley and wife Sheila, and Mike Thomley. Mrs. Thomley was blessed with seven granddaughters (Kristy Thomley Cawthon, Lillie Hill, Jennifer Collins, Heather Crump, Hannah Crump, Lauren Thomley and Taylor Martin), four grandsons (Ryan Thomley, Phillip Thomley, Jeremy Crump and Jason Thomley) and 19 great grandchildren, and one granddog (McDuff). Mrs. Thomley is also survived by brothers Jake Vaughn and wife Peggy, Lamar Vaughn and wife Charlene, sister- in- law Maureen Barnes and a host of nieces and nephews.
