Marshall Ship, Jr.

On Saturday morning, August 27, 2011, Marshall Ship, Jr. left his earthly home for a better home that is not built with hands, but whose maker and builder is God. He was 67.

rnFuneral services will be held at 2 pm on Friday, September 2, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Danny Dawsey officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1 pm to 2 pm prior to the service. rnMarshall Ship, Jr. was a resident of Marianna Health and Rehabilitation Center, Marianna, Florida. He had previously resided in Dothan, Alabama; Hilton, New York; Palmetto, Florida; Dayton Beach, Florida and Quincy, Florida. He was one of fifteen children. He worked as a laborer until the deterioration of his health. He was preceded in death by his parents, Marshall Ship, Sr. and Ollie Mae Ship; three special brothers, Eddie C. Ship, John Ship, and Arthur Lee Ship. rnMarshall’s memories will be forever cherished by his son, Ernest Ship of Quincy, Florida and his daughter, Latrecia Ship of St. Petersburg, Florida; a very special brother, Early Ship of Hilton, New York; four caring sisters, Rosie Lee Weatherspoon of Tallahassee, Florida, Bertha Homer Brascomb of Dothan, Alabama, Minnie Lee Brascomb of Palmetto, Florida, and Lizzie Leath of Dothan, Alabama; four grandchildren, Sharod Bolds, Justin Bryant, Marshonna Ship, and Jacoby Walters, all of St. Petersburg, Florida; one aunt, Alice James Hudson of Birmingham, Alabama; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and the compassionate staff of Marianna Health and Rehabilitation Center and Covenant Hospice, both of Marianna, Florida. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
