Martha Ann (Emery) Kornegay

Martha Emery Kornegay, 73, of Dothan, passed away December 10, 2022, after an extended illness. Born in Indiana August 3, 1949, to Donald and Dorothy Emery, she grew up in White Plains, New York. In 1972 she moved to Daleville, where she taught elementary special education for 30 years. After retiring she enjoyed continuing to work with children at Covenant Methodist Daycare. She later continued her work with Victory Christian School.

Martha loved her animals and spending time with many friends from Daleville, Covenant, New Freedom, and Victory Family Church. She enjoyed beach trips and church retreats, and she loved to enjoy worship and tell of the goodness of God. She dearly loved and was so very proud of her children and grandchildren.

Martha Kornegay was preceded in death by her parents, brother Mark Emery, and loving husband Stan Kornegay. She is survived by children Donald (Candice) Athey and Jennifer Love, grandchildren Dylan and Peyton Athey, Noah and Jonathan Love, Allyson (Jackson) Dalton, and Larry Athey, the father of her children.

Celebration of Life Service will be held Sunday December 18 at 3 pm at Victory Family Church, 3225 Headland Ave, Dothan. Memorial postings may be made on the Sunset Memorial website. In lieu of flowers Martha would wish for you to make a donation to Victory Christian School scholarships/trip fund or Victory Family Church youth group.
