Martha Estelle (Sanders) Wilson

July 18, 1932 — February 26, 2021

Martha Estelle (Sanders) Wilson, a resident of Dothan, passed away on February 26, 2021 at the age of 88.

She was born in Goshen, Alabama on July 18, 1932 to the late Junius and Estelle (Prestwood) Sanders and grew up in Andalusia and the Coffee County, New Hope community. During the course of her life, she lived mainly in Huntsville, Dothan and Destin, FL.

Martha is survived by her loving husband of 72 years, Billy J. Wilson and two daughters, Debra (John) Duke and Susan (John) Detwiler; four grandchildren, Kelly, Jennifer, Jack and Emily; and two great-grandchildren Kate and Liam. She is also survived by siblings Ray and Louise; and preceded by her six siblings, Marion, Mary, Dorothy, Virginia, Roy and Daniel.

She spent her life working in various administrative positions but mostly taking care of her family. She loved gardening, reading, playing Bridge and especially spending time with family, relatives and friends. She will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her uplifting personality as well as her love for the Lord. Her strength came from daily talks with God, praying for all of her family members and attending services at First United Methodist Church.

A private burial will be at Roeton Baptist Church Cemetery in Brundidge with Dr. Jim Sanders of First United Methodist Church officiating and Sunset Memorial Park Funeral Home directing.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Roeton Baptist Church, 6320 County Road 110, Brundidge, AL 36010.
