Marvin L. Hicks

Marvin L. Hicks, a resident of Dothan passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2009 at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. He was 78.

Funeral services will be held at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, March 16, 2009 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with the Military Chaplin officiating and Robert Byrd directing.Mr. Hicks was born on November 16, 1930 in Madisonville, KY, and lived there the early years of his life. He had military affiliations with the U.S. Navy, the U. S. Air Force and the Army National Guard serving for 20 years retiring as a SSG / E-6. He held a Masters Degree in Business Education from Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana and was a retired educator. He lived in Pendleton, Indiana prior to moving to Dothan in 1996.Mr. Hicks was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.Survivors include his wife of 43 years Sue Hicks of Dothan; daughters, Tavia Dearing, Leslie Nyx and her husband Stephen; a son Glenn Hicks; grandsons, River Hicks, Henry Fleenor; Sisters-in-law, Erma McGowan and her husband Jack, Rosalee Fraze; nieces, Marcy Hill and her husband Doug, Jenny Bell and her husband Aubrey, Jodie Ellis and her husband Russell, Barbara Hicks; nephews, Jason Fraze and his wife Liz, Gary McCoy and his wife Marian, William McCoy, Chip Hicks; several great nieces and nephews. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
