Mary Allen

Mary Allen, 71, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Thursday, February 13, 2014 at a local hospital.

Graveside services will be held at 3:30 pm on Sunday, February 16, 2014 at Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 2:30 – 3:30 pm on Sunday.

Mrs. Allen was born on August 22, 1942 in Brewton, Alabama and lived there the early years of her life. She was a 1960 graduate of T. R. Miller High School and later received her Bachelor of Science degree from Auburn University. Mrs. Allen received her master's degree in counseling from Troy University. She was employed with the Haven for many years and finished her career with Ventress Correctional Facility in Clayton, Alabama prior to her retirement in 2009. Mrs. Allen was an avid football fan, especially the Auburn Tigers. She was a member of the Chi Omega Sorority.

Survivors include her husband, Gene Allen; her two sons, Dr. Jon Teresa Ward and Dr. Allen M. Kimberly Ward; her two daughters, Susan Ward and Nell Dennis Eishen; her nine grandchildren, Tara Bush, Alex Ward, Zac Eishen, Jake Eishen, Sydney Ward, Collin Ward, Ella Ward, Ryder Taplin, and Lyle Taplin.
