Mary Evelyn Barker

Mary Evelyn Barker, a resident of Dothan, died Monday, August 24, 2009 at Extendicare Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was 91.

Funeral services will be held at 11 am Wednesday, August 26, 2009 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Jim Corley and Rev. Myrice McNab officiating. Burial will follow in Dothan City Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10 am until 11 am Wednesday.Mrs. Barker was born September 26, 1917 in Houston County and lived the early years of her life in Ashford. She moved to Eufaula, Alabama and was employed in the textile mills industry. Mrs. Barker married the late William Grady Barker in October 17, 1950 and they moved to Dothan in 1952. Mrs. Barker was a homemaker and a faithful member of Evangel Assembly of God Church.Survivors include two daughters and sons-in-law, Sue and Jim Corley, Dothan, Marilyn and Kenneth McKissack, Dothan; grandchildren, Kenneth “Eric” McKissack, Amy Calhoun and her husband, Matt, Nycole McKissack, Christopher Corley, Bobbi Beckworth and her husband, David, Mandy Malone; great-grandchildren ,Lillyen Grace McKissack, Mary Evelyn “Evie” Calhoun, Drew Beckworth, Brantley Beckworth, Taton Malone and Tyler Malone; two sisters, Georgia Adams, Columbus, GA, and Annie Odom, Dothan; a niece and four nephews. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
