Mary Basar

Mary McTiernan Basar, a resident of Dothan passed away on Friday, April 23, 2010 at Wesley Manor. She was 88.

A wake service will be held Monday, April 26, 2010 at 6:00 pm at the Sunset Funeral Home. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Columba Catholic Church with Father Patrick Gallagher officiating. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Resource Center 1314 Westgate Parkway Suite 2, Dothan, Alabama 36303.Mrs. Basar was born April 30, 1921 in Scranton, Pennsylvania and lived the early years of her life there. She served as a nurse’s aide during World War II. Mrs. Basar resided in Daytona Beach, Florida for over thirty-five years prior to moving to Dothan in 2005. Mrs. Basar was a hard working mother and a glorious, life-embracing grandmother. She was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church.Mrs. Basar was preceded in death by her husbands Paul Gleason, Ken Houseman, and Joseph Basar, a son Robert Gleason, and 3 brothers and 2 sisters.Survivors include two sons, Paul Gleason, Dothan and Ronnie Gleason, St. Petersburg, Russia; grandchildren, John Paul Gleason, Brian Gleason, Meagan Gleason, Jeremy Gleason, Brook Bray, Brandy Bray, Ryan Gleason, Keely Patton and Molly Gleason; numerous nieces and nephews in Scranton, PA. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
