Mary Ann Blackmon

Mary Ann Blackmon, 77, a residence of Dothan passed away Saturday, December 15, 2018. Funeral services will be held 2pm Thursday, December 20, 2018 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Alfonzo Neal officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1pm - 2pm Thursday. Mrs. Blackmon was born August 11, 1941 in Brundidge, Alabama and she moved to Houston County at an early age. She resided in Dothan for the past 48 years and was employed with Akwell and Ansell for 32 years prior to her retirement. While a working at Akwell and Ansell she developed a host of friends over the years. Mary enjoyed sewing clothes especially for her family. Mary was preceded in death by both parents, Judge Boy Mathis and Annie Talbert Mathis; and five siblings. Mary leaves to cherish her memory: her husband of 57 years, Edward Blackmon; a loving son, Tommy R. and Gennette Blackmon; a loving daughter, Felicia B. and Jeffery Kincey; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; four beloved sisters, Alma Mathis of New Haven, CT, Annie Dunlap, Sarah Mathis and Mary Reese, all of Dothan; and a host of nieces, nephews and sweet friends.
