Mary Alice (Tendle) Jones

Mrs. Mary (Mae Alice) Jones, 85, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 with family by her side.

Funeral services will be held 11 am Saturday, May 28, 2022, at Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Jackson Glover officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Pinckard, AL.

She was born on Easter Sunday, March 28, 1937 in Daleville, AL to the late Morling (Lou) and Lucille Tendle.

Her early years were spent near Camp Rucker (presently Ft. Rucker) and she graduated from D. A. Smith High School in 1956.

Mary married John Leonard (Shuck)Jones in May 1957. The two had been married for 55 years when he preceded her in death. To this union was born five children: Lew Jones, Pinckard, AL; Beverly Jones, Daleville, AL; Debra Jones, Pinckard, AL; Kathy Reynolds, Columbia, SC; and Keith (Lesha)Jones, Middletown, DE.

In 1971, she started working at Akwell (later Ansell) and retired in 1991. After retirement, she enjoyed traveling and sewing. She also was an avid Atlanta Braves fan and loved watching every game.

Mary was a lifelong and devoted member of the Greater St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church. Over the years she served on The Ladies Aide Missionary Society, The Senior Choir and The Usher Board.

She was preceded in death by her parents Morling and Lucille Tendle; her husband John Leonard Jones and her grandson Robert (Jay) Lee James Jones.

She leaves to mourn: her loving sister Maureen Tendle; her children: Lew, Beverly, Debra, Kathy, and Keith(Lesha); grandchildren: Asia Williams Harrison, Kenneth Jones Freddrick(Kenyetta Dejohn)Reynolds, Tacquan Haskins, Thadijah Williams, Ashlee(TeVaun Smith)Reynolds and Keyonna Jones; her great-grandchildren: Xavionna Dunlap, Robert Williams Harrison, Kaylynn Reynolds and Autumn Smith; a brother-in-law, Hersie Jones; two sisters-in-law, Wealthie Johnson and Maggie Lester; and an uncle, Leonard(Cheryle)Jones.

Also mourning is the Timbers Family (Ricky, Sr., Anita, Ricky Jr., William, and goddaughter Sanaa who held a very special place in her heart). Constance Brown, Jennie Lowe and Mary Frances Crews, who were like daughters to her. Her neighbors for many years, The Clark Family; lifelong friend Ms. Mattie Irene Doster and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
