Mary Ann Kiefer, 80, a resident of Headland passed away Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at Elba Nursing and Rehab in Elba, Alabama.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at St. Columba Catholic Church Chapel with Father Patrick Gallagher officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset Memorial park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Kiefer was born April 29, 1936 in Beechwood, Wisconsin and spent the early part of her life there. She married the late Raymond J. Kiefer in 1954 and they resided in West Bend, Wisconsin for the next 23 years. They moved to Dothan, Alabama in 1977, to Tucson, Arizona in 1987, and then to Tarboro, North Carolina in 1990. Following her husband’s retirement, they moved to Headland, Alabama in 1993. She enjoyed sewing, hand embroidery, cooking for her family, and gardening. She was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, the late Leslie and Edna Engelmann of West Bend, Wisconsin, and her husband of 60 years, Raymond J. Kiefer.
Survivors include her son Scott Glenda Kiefer; daughter Linda Ray Gentzyel; grandchildren, Devyn and Alyssa Gentzyel, and Kloei Kiefer; her sister, Donna Wiedmeyer; several nieces and nephews.
