Mary J. Gilmore King, of Troy, passed away Wednesday, September 28, 2011 at her residence following an extended illness.

rnFuneral services will be held 2 pm Friday, September 30, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Thaxton Whiddon officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Hill cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 12:30 – 2 pm Friday at the funeral home. Flowers are being accepted or memorial donations may be made to Wiregrass 211, 545 W. Main St., Suite 313, Dothan, AL, 36301. rnShe was the 1968 Peanut Festival Cake Recipe Winner, the 1993 America Business Woman Association Business Woman of the Year Winner, and the President of the Wiregrass Democrat Club for 3 years. Mrs. King was preceded in death by her first husband James M. Gilmore, her parents Walter D. and Kate Brackin Jackson, a brother John Jackson, and a sister Faye Duke. The family would like to express their thanks for the love and support of Alacare Hospice. rnSurvivors include her husband Joseph L. King of Troy; sisters, Rose Harold Shelley, Dothan and Beulah Morgan, Headland; brothers, Ben Marion Jackson, Cottonwood and Robert Ed Jackson, Dothan; a step-daughter Janet Tracy Jones, Troy; step-grandchildren, Reed and Trace; a host of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great nephews also survive. rnServing as pallbearers will be T.J. Walker, Freddie Jackson, Tyler Blankenship, Bobby Jackson, Kevin Jackson, Mark Jackson, Jeffery Jackson, and Mike Jackson. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
