Mary Lynda Mauldin

November 1, 1948 — December 20, 2020

Mary Lynda Mauldin, a resident of Newton, passed away on Sunday, December 20, 2020. She was 72.

Funeral Services will be held at 11a.m. on Wednesday, December 23, 2020 at Sunset Funeral Home chapel with Charles Goldsmith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service. Burial will follow at Mt. Hebron Methodist Church Cemetery in Newton.

Lynda was born on November 1, 1948 in Dale County and lived in Pinckard most of her life. She was a student at Dale County High School and graduated from Wicksburg High School in 1967. Mrs. Mauldin received her teaching degree from Troy University and taught at Girard Elementary School and with Dothan City Schools for 38 years until she retired in 2008.

Lynda loved her family, especially her four grandchildren. She enjoyed collecting recipes, cooking and sharing food with others. She had a generous heart and through the years she touched many people young and old.

Lynda was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Mauldin; and her brother, Ricky Joe King.

She is survived by her son, Wayne Mauldin Jr.; one daughter Amy (Joe) Mauldin-Clark; four grandchildren, Logan Mauldin, Ashlyn Clark, Charlie Clark, and Brooks Clark; one brother, Sammy King; three sisters, Ninna Sellers, Cathy (Jerry) Taylor, and Connie King; and several nieces and nephews.
