Mary Delores Peele

Mary Delores Peele, of Dothan, passed away Thursday, March 19, 2009 at Flowers Hospital. She was 81.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 21, 2009 at 1 p.m. in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. William Gerald Peele officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:30 until 1 on Saturday.Mrs. Peele was born in New Haven, Kentucky on January 22, 1928 and grew up in Louisville, KY. She was married in 1948 and raised 2 sons and 2 daughters. She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Her family was her greatest strength and love. Mrs. Peele was a 50 year resident of Athens, Georgia and was a member of Prospect United Methodist Church. She enjoyed cooking, sewing, bird watching, and gardening. Her yard was registered with the Audubon Society.Mrs. Peele was preceded in death by her husband James Andrew Peele, Sr. and by her parents, Luke McKinley Seward and Hester Agness Despain.Survivors include her sons, James Peele, Jr. Christy, Dothan, William Gerald Peele Rachel, Rock Spring, GA; her daughters, Sharon Butcher Frank, Valdosta, GA, Robin Dobbins David, Knoxville, TN; 9 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren; her brother, Sonny Ann Seward, Louisville, KY; and her sister, Yvonne Cook, Cincinnati, OH; a host of nieces and nephews also survive. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
