Mary Joyce Phillips

Mary Joyce Phillips, a resident of Ariton, passed away Monday, December 20, 2010 at her home. She was 71.

Funeral services will be held 10 am Thursday December, 23, 2010 at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Al Sonanstine officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 until 7 pm Wednesday. Flowers are being accepted or memorials may be made to Wiregrass Hospice or the American Cancer Society. Mrs. Phillips was born April 16, 1939 in Albany, Georgia and she resided the early years of her life in Tampa, Florida. Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker and was also employed with Dale Medical Center for the past twelve years until her retirement in 2006. She was a member of the Ozark Senior Citizens’ Center and she attended Campground Baptist Church. Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by a son, Johnny Malcom and a grandson, Donnie Phillips, Jr.Survivors include four sons, Roy Phillips, Dothan, Tommy Phillips and his wife Judy, Midland City, Donnie Phillips, Dothan and Joe Phillips, Ariton; her daughter, Melissa Stumpf and her husband, Richard, Ozark; her mother, Mandy Britt and her husband, Ron, Chiefland, FL; eight grand children; seven great-grandchildren; four brothers, Roy Daniels and his wife, Vicki, Gibsonton, FL, James Daniels and his wife, Debbie, Ruskin, FL, Johnny Daniels and his wife Allene, Gibsonton, FL, and Kenneth Daniels, Riverview, FL; two sisters, Jeannie Woodham and her husband, Charles, Gibsonton, FL, Susan Brandon and her husband Lee, Apollo Beach, Florida; several nieces and nephews. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
