Mary Lois Simons

Mary Lois Simons, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Friday, June 9, 2017 at a local hospital. She was 92.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00am on Tuesday, June 20, 2017 in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on June 20, 2017 at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to Children of Fallen Patriots, 1818 Library St #500, Reston, VA 20190.

Mrs. Simons was born on October 18, 1924 in Houston County and lived the early years of her life there. She married Steve John Erickson who served in the US Air Force. They moved to various places throughout his career. Mrs. Simons moved to Albany, Georgia in 1968 where her husband was assigned duty at Turner Air Force Base. Mary was employed 40 years with civil service for the Air Force and Marine Corps Base Exchange system. She managed stores at Loring AFB, Maine; Turner AFB, Georgia and Marine Corps Logistics Base in Albany, Georgia. She moved back to Dothan in 2007. Mary was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star.

Survivors include her son, Fred (Fran) Erickson; her granddaughter, Jennifer Erickson; her great-granddaughter, Savanah Swearingen; her brothers, Jimmy Newton and Bobby Newton; several nieces and nephews.
