Maudie Butler

Maudie Butler, 89, an Angel that extended her heart to all in need, was called home to Heaven on Monday, April 4, 2011.

rnServices will be 3 pm on Wednesday, April 6, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Coley Holloway officiating. Burial will follow in Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 2-3 pm on Wednesday at the funeral home. At all other times the family will be at the home of Mrs. Butler at 342 Butler Rd. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Southern Care Hospice, 2576 Montgomery Hwy, Suite 2, Dothan, AL, 36303. rnMrs. Butler was born October 5, 1921 to the late Arthur and Trula Bass. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 61 years Willis Butler, her brothers and sisters, Myrtle, Ethel, Carl, Ander, Annie, Foy, Dudley, and Helen. rnSurvivors include her son Leon Butler Joyce; a granddaughter Selina Thornton Greg; a great-grandson Seth Thornton; a great-granddaughter Savanna Thornton; step-grandchildren, Karson, Morgan, Luke, Hunter, Jackson, and Billy; numerous nieces and nephews also survive. rnServing as active pallbearers will be Ronnie Childree, Rusty Martin, Donald Brownlee, Scotty Jordan, Jackson Erp, and Lavon Ausley. rnThe family would like to extend a special thank you to caregivers, Donna Jordan, Mandy & Irby Martin, Emma Spivey, Mr. & Mrs. James Trawick, and the entire staff of Southern Care Hospice.
