Mavis Eldridge Todd

Mavis Eldridge Todd, 90, of Dothan passed away Thursday, March 13, 2014 at Wesley Manor.

Graveside services will be held 10:30am Tuesday, March 18, 2014 at Lovewood Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery located at 1745 Lovewood Road, Cottondale, Florida, with Rev. James L. Scotty Scott officiating and Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends following the service at the home of Lendon and Jeanne Scott, 479 Forrester Road, Dothan, AL. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to the Cottondale First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 128, Cottondale, FL 32431.

Ms. Todd was born August 11, 1923 in Jackson County, FL to the late Levy Jefferson and Mattie Locke Eldridge, and lived the early part of her life in Cottondale, FL. She graduated from Cottondale High School as Valedictorian in 1940 and went on to work as a clerical secretary at Graham Air Base in Marianna, FL. She lived in several places throughout the United States before moving to Dothan in 1976. She was a member of Selma Baptist Church in Dothan. Ms. Todd was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers, and 3 sisters.

Survivors include her daughters, Jeanne J. Lendon Scott of Dothan, and Doris Carl Upton of Dothan; sons, John Mark Sharon Todd of Gainesville, GA, and Foy Gene Tammy Todd, Jr. of Toccoa, GA; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a sister Jean Eldridge James Wagner of Lafayette, IN; a sister-in-law Marjorie Eldridge of Pensacola, FL; a host of nieces and nephews also survive.
