MC Patterson, 86, of Dothan passed away on Monday, August 3, 2020 at his residence. Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 8, 2020 at Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at Sunset Funeral Home on Friday from 3 to 5 pm. The Lord is my shepherd I shall not want. This special journey and life of MC Patterson began on February 13, 1936 in Kinsey, AL. MC was born to the late Tom Patterson and Lucille (Headspeth) Patterson. He joined the church at an early age. He was united in Holy Matrimony to Rushie Bell Thomas (Patterson) on December 24 some 66 years ago. He departed this life on August 3, 2020. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Rushie Bell Patterson, two sons Eddie Dean Patterson and Billy C. Patterson, his parents Tom and Lucile Patterson; two sisters, Donna Lee Thomas and Tommie Lee Patterson; and two brothers, Booker T. Patterson and Willie B. Patterson. MC was known to everybody as "Pop." He was known for his gardening and lending a helping hand to anyone in need. MC drove 18 wheelers for several years. He retired from the City of Dothan after over 30 years of service with the street department. Mr. Patterson leaves to cherish him seven sons, Tom (Catherine) Patterson, Nathaniel (LeLe) Patterson, RL (Demetrice) Patterson, James (Shelia) Patterson, Henry C. Patterson, Tim Patterson and Sushan Patterson; two daughters, Ruthie Patterson and Annie (John ) Williams all of Dothan; a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; two loving and devoted sisters, Betty (Henry) Neely of Augusta, GA and Catherine Smith of Tallahassee, FL; three sisters-in-law, Bertha, Willie Ruth and Faye Thomas; four brothers-in-law, John Lee (Arlene), David, Ray and Sammy Thomas; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins and many friends and neighbors; his best friend, Mr. Johnnie B; and his neighbor, Mr. Corbitt.
