Merilyn Martin Campbell

March 24, 1931 — September 4, 2017

Merilyn Martin Campbell of Dothan, Alabama passed away on Monday, September 4, 2017 at her residence. She was 86.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 7, 2017 at 2 pm in Sunset Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 1-2 pm on Thursday.

Mrs. Campbell was born March 24, 1931 in Rhode Island where she resided the early years of her life. Mrs. Campbell moved to Tampa, Florida and was Tampa’s first female truck driver. She had a special love for children having three biological children of her own and adopting eight children through her foster home. Mrs. Campbell move to Skipperville in 1983 and was employed as a security guard for school crossings. She will be loved and missed by all who knew her especially her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great grandchildren.

Survivors include her children, Johnny and Linda Zito, Ronald Zito, Sr., Tammy Eli Campbell, Jada and Derrick Thompson, Bobby Campbell, Raymond and Shay Campbell, Matthew and Kristina Campbell, Charlotte and Terry Stevens and Ronnie and Krista Campbell; grandchildren, Jerilyn Zito, Gordon Zito, Jr., Carry Zito, Charlene Zito, Cheryl Zito, Ronette Garner, Ronnie Zito, Jr., Robert Haefner, Sarah Haefner, Yusuf Jarrar, Hamzh Jarrar, Jessica Wise, Tanner Campbell, Tamera Campbell, Tiffany Gibson, Merilyn Campbell, Madison Campbell, J. W. Campbell, Emily Campbell, Robert Campbell, Ansa Campbell, Joseph Campbell, Isbella Vallejo and Gabriel Campbell.
