Michael Ward Lancaster of Dothan, AL passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Friday, August 5th at the age of 62.
Mike is survived by his wife, Beverly Diane, his mother Warnette Lancaster of Dothan, sister and brother-in-law Bob & Debbie Allen of Honolulu, HI, daughter Melissa McGill of Altha, FL, daughter Kimberly Jones of Rehobeth, AL, son John McGill of Atlanta, GA, five grandchildren, Alexis, Brooklynn, Hailea, Kameron and Montana; nieces and nephews, Amanda, Ashley, Bill, Diane, John, Matthew, Rosa, Sean, Terry and their families; numerous great-nieces and nephews; and in-laws that loved him dearly. He was preceded in death by his father, Bob Lancaster, and his son, Luke Lancaster.
Mike was born on September 23rd, 1953 at Fort Brag in North Carolina. He attended military school at Lyman Ward Military Academy in Camp Hill, AL and joined the Army a year after graduation. During his service Mike was awarded the National Defense Service Medal. Mike’s career following his service centered on his ability to create. He retired from Burt Williams Construction where he served as their Contracting Supervisor. Mike had a passion for fishing and motorcycles that he shared with his family and friends, and some said he allegedly was packing. His friends were more like brothers and sisters, and their kids regarded him as a second father.
Services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, August 8th, 2016 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Jim McIntosh officiating. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 3-4:00 p.m. prior to the service on Monday.
