Michael Leslie Miller, a cherished husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend, passed away on January 24, 2025, in Dothan, Alabama, at the age of 63. Known for his unwavering kindness and entrepreneurial spirit, Michael's legacy is one of love, dedication, and genuine connection with those around him.
Born in Dothan on March 23, 1961, Michael was a lifelong resident of the city that he loved. He was a proud alumnus of Auburn University, where he earned his Bachelor's degree, laying the foundation for his future endeavors. Michael worked in the hospitality industry all his working life. His passion for business led him to own and operate many hotels and restaurants and most recently he owned The Recovery Room, a testament to his hardworking and creative nature.
Michael's life was a reflection of the things he valued most: family, friendship, and integrity. He shared a beautiful life with his wife, Tammy Miller, and was a guiding light to his children, Christopher (Sydney) Miller, Kellen (Barry) Rolling, step-son, Chris (Amanda) Granger, and step-daughter, Mandy Granger. His love extended to his grandchildren, Harper Berry, Hadley Berry, and Hollis Berry, as well as step-grandchildren Caden Granger, Rylee Granger, Collin Granger, Bryson Granger, Colten Granger, and Corley Granger. Michael's brother, Lamar (Susan) Miller, along with his nieces and nephews, Jeremy Miller, Dustin Miller, Adam Miller, and Brittney Phillips, will hold dear the memories of his unwavering support and the lessons he imparted.
Michael's presence was a constant source of comfort and joy to his family. He had the remarkable ability to make each conversation feel personal, often reminding his loved ones of his affection with a heartfelt "I love you" before parting ways. His respectful and generous nature made him a pillar in the lives of those who knew him.
Michael loved music and passionately supported musicians. He was the kind of person who never met a stranger; he could strike up a conversation with anyone and instantly put them at ease. Michael's commitment to doing the right thing, even when it was challenging, was a trait that earned him the respect and admiration of all who had the pleasure of knowing him.
A celebration of Michael's extraordinary life will take place at 2 pm on Monday, January 27, 2025, at Sunset Funeral Home Chapel, with Ben Cheney officiating. Friends and family are invited to gather and share memories at the funeral home on Monday from 1-2 pm. In lieu of flowers the family requests that memorial contributions be made in Michael’s honor to the Wiregrass Area Food Bank, 382 Twitchell Road, Dothan, AL 36303.
