Michael “Mike” D. Scaff

Michael "Mike" D. Scaff, a resident of Dothan, passed away on January 18, 2021. He was 78 years old. A graveside service with full Military Honors will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Sunset Funeral Home. Mike was born January 20, 1942 to David Francis and Alma Mae Scaff in Lockney, Texas. After graduating from Deport High School in Deport, Texas, he went on to enlist in the United States Air Force. Mike spent 45 years on active duty for the Air Force and Civil Service and even had stints stationed in Greece, Turkey, and Germany. Mike also served a tour in the Vietnam War. His career in the service carried him all over the world, but Alabama was home for him for 50 years. An avid sports fan, Mike coached little league football, baseball, and basketball at Gunter Air Force base. He was a passionate Alabama football fan and loved stock car racing and the Dallas Cowboys. Roll Tide! Mike and his wife were long time members of Dothan First Seventh Day Adventist Church. Mike was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Carol Ann Todd; one grandson, Camden Scaff; one great-grandchild, Mya Grace Bailey; and his first wife, Mary Lyndia Scaff. Survivors include his loving wife of 18 years, Mary R. Scaff; his son, Michael David (Meg) Scaff; his daughter, Amy Melinda Scaff; his stepson, Terry Harrelson; his two stepdaughters, Sheila (Greg) Aplin and Sherry (Randall) Hunter; his 11 grandchildren; his 8 great-grandchildren; his niece, Melissa Burris of Paris, TX. Burial Date January 26, 2021 A graveside service with full Military Honors will be held 1 p.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2021 at Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends one hour before the service at Sunset Funeral Home.
