Michie Wakasugi Mccarty

Michie Wakasugi McCarty, 83, of Dothan’s Garden District, died early Thursday afternoon, June 9, 2011 at her residence following a brief illness.

rnServices will be 10 am Saturday, June 11, 2011 at Sunset Funeral Home with Rev. Ede Plovanich officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 9-10 am prior to the service at the funeral home. rnMs. McCarty was born in Hokaido, Japan on October 18, 1927 and lived the early part of her life there. She moved to the U.S. in 1952 and has been a resident of Dothan since 1953 where she devoted herself to the caring and raising of her family. She was employed with Ansell Industries for over 25 years and following her retirement was a volunteer at Southeast Alabama Medical Center. Ms. McCarty was a member of the Episcopal Church of the Nativity. rnSurvivors include her daughters, Patricia Stewart and her fiancé Barry Hardy of Dothan and Irene Williams Don of Decatur; grandchildren, Donald Williams Jenny of Tampa, FL, Robert Williams Kelly of Decatur, Micah Watkins April of Rehobeth, and Brian Watkins of Panama City Beach, FL; 8 great-grandchildren; a very special family friend Ann Swanson. Burial Date: January 1, 1970
