Minnie Lee Andrews

Minnie Lee Andrews, 87, a resident of Midland City passed away Saturday, July 11, 2015 at her residence.

Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, July 17, 2015 at the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Frank Morris officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset Memorial Park with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends from 1-2:00 p.m. prior to the service at the funeral home.

God planted a special seed in Pike County to the late Samuel Henderson and Lemma Youngblood. On May 15, 1928 Minnie Lee Andrews lovingly known as “Big Mama” was born. She lived the early part of her life there but later moved to Midland City and has been a resident for the past 75 years. She was a homemaker and was also employed with 76 Truck Stop for 10 years. She loved fishing and her passion was cooking for her family and friends. She was a member of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church.

She was proceeded in death by her parents Samuel Henderson and Lemma Youngblood; brothers, Samuel Jr., John Henry and Harden Henderson; a sister, Johnnie Brown; and her sons, Espy Jr., Major, Porter, and Johnny Andrews.

She leaves to cherish and celebrate her memories to her children, Minnie Pearl Randall of Warner Robin, GA, Jessie Chatman, Brenda Jones, Laura L.C. Dull all of Midland City, AL, Rosa Andrews, Henrietta Andrews of Dothan, AL, Cynthia Anthony Kizer of Memphis, TN, Jacqueline Lamar Hamilton of Midland City and Carla Andrews of Dothan, AL, Henry Betty Andrews, and Willie Espy all of Midland City, AL; one sister, Odessa Williams of Cincinnati, OH; a longtime special friend Charlie Thompson and a host of nieces and nephews.
