Moody Lampkin, a resident of Dothan, passed away on Sunday, November 28, 2010 at his residence. He was 87.
Funeral services will be held at 11 am on Friday, December 3, 2010 in the Sunset Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Lloyd S. Dillard officiating. Burial will follow in Gates of Heaven Cemetery with Robert Byrd directing. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday, December 2, 2010 from 5-7 pm.Mr. Lampkin was born on May 14, 1923 in Henry County and lived the early years of his life there. He resided in Dothan since the early 1960’s and was employed with Civil Service at Ft. Rucker for over 20 years until his retirement. Mr. Lampkin was also a barber and worked at barber shops in Headland and Dothan. He was a member of Tabernacle Missionary Baptist Church.Survivors include his sons, Arthur Moody Lampkin Joyce of Dothan, Charles Lampkin Eileen of Jersey City, NJ, Willie Frank Lampkin Essie of Dothan, Benjamin Lampkin of Panama City, FL, and Robert Lancaster Lampkin of Dothan; his daughters, Laura Hodge Scott Eugene of Dothan, Jackie Peoples Willie of Augusta, GA, and Sandra Diann Lampkin of Dothan; 17 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; his brother, Willie Lampkin Juanita of Dothan; his sisters, Tinnie Owens of Dothan, Willie Blanch Cook of Hollywood, FL, Willie Rose Lampkin of Dothan, Evelyn G. Williams of Dothan, and Christine Kirkland Tennyson of Dothan; a host of nieces, nephews, family members and friends also survive. Burial Date: January 1, 1970Visits: 1
